Removing glucose strips away one of the body’s most effective pathways to absorb water and electrolytes quickly, the sodium glucose co-transporter. Essentially, sugar unlocks the sodium-glucose transport mechanism, pulling sodium, and with it more water, rapidly into the bloodstream.
